When driving down a back road in the Pocono's of Pa,
I came across these "chunks" of trees.
A tree service working for the state had been
cutting down dead pine trees close to the road.
Not knowing at the time exactly what I would create,
I knew they were for me.
Carpenter ants had hollowed the centers
and left the part that would have become the branches.
If the tree had been sawn into lumber,
this part would have been the knots.
As a collector, I already had the moose, elk and deer antlers.
So... Materials + Imagination = Art
The single "Eye's" are projector lenses
that I painted on the back to represent an eye.
The Heads are industrial strength plaster applied in layers,
achieving the look that I wanted for each piece.
